What's Your Superpower?

Emily Lloyd-Jones' debut novel, ILLUSIVE, releases next week (July 15th), and to celebrate, she's asked, If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

For me, it would definitely be the ability to fly. I've always wanted to experience that weightless, free-as-a-bird feeling of soaring through the clouds. I'd love to give gravity the slip and leave the cares of the world below me. Whenever I travel, if flying is an option, that's the one I'll choose, and I always want to sit by the window, so I can watch the clouds pass by below me and pretend I'm Supergirl.

If you could have any superpower, what would you choose? Why? Leave a comment below and let me know! Then, go check out ILLUSIVE (preorder links are below).

The X-Men meets Ocean's Eleven in this edge-of-your-seat sci-fi adventure about a band of "super" criminals.

When the MK virus swept across the planet, a vaccine was created to stop the epidemic, but it came with some unexpected side effects. A small percentage of the population developed superhero-like powers. Seventeen-year-old Ciere Giba has the handy ability to change her appearance at will. She's what's known as an illusionist...She's also a thief.

After a robbery goes awry, Ciere must team up with a group of fellow super-powered criminals on another job that most would consider too reckless. The formula for the vaccine that gave them their abilities was supposedly destroyed years ago. But what if it wasn't?
The lines between good and bad, us and them, and freedom and entrapment are blurred as Ciere and the rest of her crew become embroiled in a deadly race against he government that could cost them their lives.

Emily Lloyd-Jones grew up on a vineyard in rural Oregon, where she played in evergreen forests and learned to fear sheep. After graduating from Western Oregon University with an English degree, she enrolled in the publishing program at Rosemont College just outside of Philadelphia. She currently resides in Northern California, working in a bookstore by day and writing by night.

Twelve Days of TWELVE STEPS #4: Signed Ninja Unicorn Print Giveaway!

http://vbartles.com/12Teasers.htm

My daughter decided that, since my book is called TWELVE STEPS, we absolutely have to do something to celebrate the release for each of the twelve days leading up to the big day. So of course, we have lots of fun family celebrations planned, all linking to our favorite scenes and the lines that make us grin. However, as we were planning our activities, we realized that most of our celebrations only make sense if you've read the book. And we didn't want to spoil the surprise of our favorite scenes by explaining all of the inside jokes. But of course, we wanted to include all of you too!

So each day for the twelve days leading up to March 25, we'll be sharing non-spoilery favorite quotes with a new teaser graphic every day. And each day, I'll share something special and book-related with you as well: recipes, sneak peeks, giveaways and more!

One of my favorite scenes in TWELVE STEPS is when Andi and her friends go to the movies to try to "accidentally" run into Jarod. One of the movies that's playing is Ninja Unicorn Strikes Back, and my amazingly-talented artist husband, Phil, drew the movie poster for me!!

Today, I'll be giving away three signed prints of this amazing picture to lucky winners!

How do you win? My Ninja Unicorn and his trusty frog sidekick need names! Comment here on my blog, or on my Facebook page, or on Twitter (make sure to include the hashtag #12D12S) with your names for the Ninjacorn, the frog or both! I'll choose one winner from each location (Twitter, Facebook & this blog) at 5pm EDT on Monday, March 24th.

Bonus entries:
* Tell your friends! If your friend enters to win, and they mention your name, you each get one bonus entry into the drawing.
* Share any of my Twelve Days of TWELVE STEPS teaser graphics, including the Amazon preorder link, or share the links to my other Twelve Days of TWELVE STEPS countdown posts. Send me a link to your post (is it on your blog? Facebook? Twitter? Tumblr? Pinterest? other??) so I can verify the entry. (One bonus entry for each unique post.)
* Pre-order TWELVE STEPS! Email me a screenshot of your receipt (funstuff (at) vbartles (dot) com ---> Please make sure to obscure any credit card information - you don't want to send that kind of thing over the internet, just in case!), and you'll get an extra 10 entries into the drawing!

Book Review: ONE by Leigh Ann Kopans

Today is the day!
ONE by Leigh Ann Kopans is officially available now!

I was one of the lucky people who got to read an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of this novel, and I've been waiting to post the review since I read (and loved) it way back in February!! (Didn't want to post the review before it was available, since it would be just mean to be raving about a book you couldn't read yet.) But it's finally available for purchase, and I can share my thoughts.
