Broken Things

This week has been a really difficult one for me. Without going into a lot of personal details, suffice it to say that the plans I've made for myself keep going awry. And I've been very frustrated with the way my plans keep breaking to bits. I keep asking myself, "Why can't anything go right???"

But on Thursday night, we had our monthly Relief Society activity (Relief Society is the women's organization for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). The theme of the evening was parenting, and one of the speakers (my friend Ana's mom) talked about loving our children, even when they stray into destructive paths. As she quoted a talk from Jeffrey R. Holland (one of the General Authorities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), I couldn't help but think of this song by Kenneth Cope:

The Lord has a plan for my life, and it might not match the one I've set for myself, but every single time I've allowed myself to trust in His ways, I've found myself with more than I hoped to accomplish with my own path. Because nothing that's truly worth it has ever come easily. And there is treasure at the end of this broken road too. I just have to keep going and never give up until I reach it.

  1. I have come to accept that nothing goes as planned. Makes life interesting, if nothing else! Hang in there! <3
